When we saw this boy-faced Southern artist rapping, passionately chewing on words of steel with Cash Money years ago, we knew that he was hungry to release some of the "sickest" and most incredible singles in the Hip Hop world. We however had no clue that Lil Wayne would be one of the crowned Gods in the hip hop entertainment world today.
Selling way over six million in over three years in the industry those that had doubted the slow talking Gangster from New Orleans has to be rechecking their thoughts and ideals as we speak. Wayne became a part of the scene, pretty young and released his first track "Get it how you live". To date Weezy (as he is commonly known) continues to release some of the most riveting singles in the industry. Some of his most noted hits are, "Stuntin' Like My Dad", "Fireman", "Go DJ", "Got Money", "Lollipop" and "Tell Me That You Need Me (Apologize Remix)".
The New Orleans rapper is also well known for his superb collaborations. Many even go as far as to say that anything the Weezy is featured on is a guaranteed best seller. The lyrical content and almost theatrical ways of in-your-face rhyming is definitely one reason that so many in the industry are itching at the chance to put out a single with him. Collaborations so far have included Destiny's Child, Juvenile, T-Pain, Jay- Z , Fat Joe, Akon, Birdman, Robin Thicke, T.I., Drake, and Kanye West, just to name a few.
In 2008, Lil Wayne was integral in signing Brit-Asian artist, Jay Sean to Cash Money Records. This made the already internationally acclaimed artist the first Brit-Asian performer to sign with a major American label. Lil Wayne is featured on Jay Sean's track, "Down" off of his album "My Own Way" released in October of 2009.
The very tattooed 29 year-old, Weezy, has created a new level of performer in the industry that was declared to have been stalled with the tragedy of the loss with great artists such as Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. This isn't to say that Lil Wayne has already reached the epic status of these great rappers, but if he continues with the success that he's had thus far, we will certainly still be talking about him in years to come.see less biography
