Kareena Checking On Shahid Kapoor

At a recently concluded award ceremony, ex-lovers Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were up against each other and their petty antics only proved the reason for their parting ways. Both Kareena and Shahid were at opposing ends, as both demanded the organisers to perform after the other. Shahid insisted that he wanted to perform after Kareena as he had given more hits last year and Kareena maintained that she was a bigger star, and should get to perform after Shahid. After a lot of struggle, the organisers managed to coax Shahid and let Kareena have her way and perform after him. This didn’t end here. Currently dating Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor was seen taking a keen interest into what Shahid was wearing all throughout the event. Sporting a nerd look, he also donned a pair of glasses, something that didn’t cut a smart figure in Kareena’s eye. Not that she was used to it in old days, we guess!Keeping a close watch on the ‘Kaminey’ star, she commented on Shahid’s nerdy look and said he was not looking good with the glasses. The actress made sure she watched his full act from backstage.

aishwarya rai black sari 200x282

designer Neeta Lulla has been lending her creative touch to Aishwarya Rai’s wardrobe for more than a decade. Having dressed the actress in varied costumes in movies like “Taal”, “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam” and “Jodhaa Akbar”, the designer feels the sari suits the former beauty queen best.“No doubt Aishwarya looks beautiful in Indian outfits, but, personally, I feel that she looks her best in a sari. She can carry a simple cotton to a designer sari with equal poise and elegance,” Lulla told IANS in an interview.Lulla has been named for a National Award for best costume designer in “Jodhaa Akbar” – her third National Award. She previously won the award in 1992 for “Lamhe” and in 2003 for “Devdas”.The Mumbai-based designer was here to give a sneak preview of yet-to-be opened entertainment destination, Kingdom of Dreams, which will play host to Bollywood musicals. With this magnum opus concept, I can see myself putting my creativity at its best and exploring various new facets,” she said. Her association with Kingdom of Dreams would require Lulla to spend more time here than her home in Mumbai, but the designer seems unperturbed and welcomes the change.“This city is huge and sprawling…I like it for many reasons. No guy wants to go out with me anymore – Preity Zinta

Preity Zinta single 475x511

Mumbai, Actress-entrepreneur Preity Zinta is starting a new chapter in her life following her breakup with businessman Ness Wadia. The only thing that bothers her are link-ups with co-stars and friends, as a result of which none of her male friends, she says, wants to go out with her.“I’m surrounded by celebrities who are constantly discussing their personal lives. I’m the same Preity Zinta I used to be. You won’t find me discussing my private life in detail. I’m in a very good space right now,” Preity told IANS.“The only problem is any man whom I’m seen with in public is automatically linked with me. I’ve come to a place where none of my male friends wants to go out with me any more! I think I’ll just have to pick my date for the next public event through a contest!” she added laughing.Preity, who is co-owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab, has to cope up with being linked to not only her co-stars but also cricketers now.“Can you imagine, members of my own team! I’ve always maintained I’d never mix business and pleasure. Now that I’m getting fully into business, I’m narrowing my chances of finding a man. I know I’d never get into criminal activities, so maybe…”Talking about her new equation with former boyfriend Ness Wadia, Preity said: “The media has been trying to find awkwardness in our equation. Why should that be? We’re still good friends. We’re no longer seeing each other. We’re colleagues now.“If ever I’m in a situation, I’m sure he’d watch my back, as I’d watch his. But would people let go of this fascination with the equation between me and Ness? It’s been one year since we broke up.”Preity has been spending a lot of time outside Mumbai and says she goes out of the city to avoid prying eyes.“Whenever I’m not shooting I’m out of the country. Don’t get me wrong. I love Mumbai to death. But tell me what can an actor can do in the city if she isn’t working? I can’t go out partying. I can’t even take a jog. What do I do on a Sunday? I can’t even go out.“Now (after the Ness episode) it’s become worse. I can’t go out with any guy. If I do I’ve to beg some women to come along, otherwise the guy and I get linked up. I can’t handle it any more,” said Preity. She describes her stint at the Harvard Business School as the best time of her life. “I took the plunge in December and went back to school, to Harvard School. Believe you me, it was the most enriching experience of my life. I didn’t do it because I wanted to go back to college. I wanted to learn about business management so I could be a better entrepreneur.”“I had the best time of my life. I felt so proud to see so many young Asian students in Harvard. That was the future…I learnt negotiations and mergers, acquisitions, etc. There were students from all over the world, including, of course Asians. More than just the course, the questions that the students asked were so pertinent.”Preity is ready to get back to films in a big way now. “But as far as my role in the IPL cricket team is concerned it’s all settled down now… My focus is now back to movies. I’m on the verge of signing new films.”She says that 2010 will be a good year for her.“Last year I was too busy experiencing life to talk about it. 2009 was a year of learning for me. Now I reap the dividends of what I learnt. I went back to college.“I wasn’t travelling and nursing a broken heart. Just because I wasn’t giving explanations. The worst you can do to someone who’s recovering from an emotional setback is to crowd them. I should’ve been left alone. It’s like a death in your family.“Those condolence calls just set your teeth on edge. My way of dealing with my breakup was to move on. The Harvard experience really rejuvenated me. I’ve come back a different person. You watch 2010 is going to be the best year of my life. As Mr. (Amitabh) Bachchan would say, it’s going to be mindboggling.”

The book that changed LSD directors myth!

An intellectual in the real sense, director Dibakar Banerjee of KHOSLA KA GHOSLA, the national award winning OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! and the upcoming, highly interestingLOVE SEX AND DHOKA fame, is now a respected name, as far as the niche audience is concerned. His films reflect his maturity, intelligence and intellectual capabilities and so its not difficult to guess that Dibakar's influences in his filmmaking are very inspired by books, which (as the saying goes), maketh a man!
Dibakar is a voracious reader and from his huge list, the book that changed his life and his way of thinking is a relatively unknown work by Joseph Campbell - MYTHS AND MASKS OF GOD.
CHECK OUT: Dibakar's open session for LOVE, SEX AUR DHOKHA!
Says Dibakar, "The book covers mythology from around the world, from ancient to modern India. His book has changed the way I perceive myth in my day-to-day life. For example, in the ancient world, a young boy was put through an elaborate ritual so that he could become a man-that helped him psychologically think that he was a man. But in the world we live in, which is devoid of any myth, we have to redefine everything. What I have realized is that mythology helps us coordinate ourselves better with the mysteries of the world and the society."
Wow, some great thoughts coming from a great person and we will surely check out the book as well as Dibaker's next film, LOVE SEX AND DHOKHA, fondly referred to as LSD by film buffs, who are eagerly awaiting the release.

Ajith’S Metaphoric Style

It looks like actor Ajith Kumar wants to acquire the status of ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ in Tamil film industry. Recently during the audio launch of ‘ASAL’, the entire crew couldn’t stop singing praises of Ajith Kumar as they felt that the actor has a vast knowledge in various departments of filmmaking and other production tasks. As known, the actor has got himself involved into story and screenplay for ‘ASAL’. Apparently, director Saran has entitled him as ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ as Aamir Khan, who makes sure that his film is churned out with perfection with ne plus ultra. Similarly, Yughi Sethu geared up for a surprising speech that Ajith Kumar can be termed as present day MGR as he was the only versatile actor of ancient times for having claimed knowledge about technical aspects of filmmaking as well. However then, Ajith Kumar made a rigid statement that a good film doesn’t need publicity. But we aren’t sure how far this exactly conjures the lines of reality.

Dhanush Hopes For A New Avatar

Literally, actors would love to inherit more knowledge towards various departments of filmmaking as they keep going along with more projects. By nature, their inwardness towards marking feat as script writers and filmmakers will be more. But Dhanush seems to be quite different as he says, ‘Much before stepping into stardom, I wanted to wear director’s hat. But having bounded to lots of commitments, I had to keep those aspirations aside…”It seems that the young actor has already completed full-fledged drafts of more scripts based on various genres.

Prabhu in Telugu films

For the first time Prabhu has agreed to act in Telugu films. He has been signed for two Telugu films. One of the films is titled Darling. Prabhas and Kajal Agarwal are in the lead roles.
Prabhu is donning an important role in this film. Karunakaran hailing from Tamil Nadu is directing this film. The other film Prabhu is acting is a film produced by Chiranjeevi. The film is not titled yet.Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan is doing the lead role. Genelia is pairing with him. Bhaskar who earlier directed Bommarilu is directing this film. In both the films Prabhu will act by speaking in Telugu.

Arun Vijay goes mottai

Arun Vijay, who bounced back with Malai Malai, has almost completed his next film titled Maanja Velu. The character that Arun is playing in Maanja Velu requires him to shave his head and hence the actor has tonsure his head. The film, directed by A.Venkatesh and the climax and stunt sequences of the film will be shot soon.
Arun hopes the magic of mottai will work for him too like it worked for many stars like Rajinikanth in Sivaji. Produced by Feather Touch Entertainment, the film has veterans Karthik and Prabhu playing crucial roles and is expected to hit theatres by February end.
A fight sequence where Arun was suspended upside down was canned at Binny Mills over a period of seven days by stunt choreographer Kanal Kannan.

Kamal Haasan’s new hope on ‘Marmayogi’

If Kamal Haasan had an inevitable dream it could be none other than ‘Marudhanayagam’ and later switched his focus towards ‘Marmayogi’. But as things couldn’t get better due to financial constraints, Kamal dropped off his plans and kick-started with other projects.
Right now, the actor will immediately shoot for couple of films – onedirected by K.S. Ravikumar and another one to be made by his home banner.
Now, Sun Pictures seems to have assured Kamal about reviving his ‘Marmayogi’. Sources have confirmed that Sun Pictures will commence the project after the completion of Rajnikanth’s ‘Endhiran’.

Why ‘Ajith Kumar’ cannot be an ‘Aamir Khan’?

We’re not blaming the actors, but those flattering speeches rendered by their supporters. Most of the celebrities do have more problems patently because of mediachannels and those around them.
Recently during the audio launch of ‘ASAL’, Ajith Kumar was appraised as ‘MGR’ and ‘Aamir Khan’. Of course, Ajith Kumar has all the probabilities of becoming a greatactor like MGR since he has good looks, challenging capability to take any risks and a wide knowledge towards other departments of film production.
But things cannot be agreed with Saran ennobling Ajith Kumar as ‘Aamir Khan of Kollywood’. Because the very next moment actor Ajith said, “A good film doesn’t need publicity”.
Can this be a right judgment? Definitely not! Being a universal superstar Aamir Khan needn’t promote his film even after 20days of film’s release. But the actor has been straining himself over this process of personally heading towards various parts of the nation and promoting the film individually.
And now Mr. Perfectionist is looked on flying with high colors as the film has fetched Rs 315Crores within 20 days.
In fact we agree, Hindi film industry is literally magniloquent with its vast expansion across the globe. But extending certain vitality to ‘promotional activities’ will make producers happier as they can be confident over making challenging scripts as well…

“I will not wait for good story” says Vijay

Vettaikaran has been released in New Theatres in Trivandrum. Vijay who had come to this theatre yesterday was chatting with his fans.
After this he had visited the poor student’s hostel and provided them free lunch and financial aid for some students. While speaking to media, he said,” I had come to Trivandrum for the 75th day celebrations of Pokkiri. After this I have come now.
Of all the films I have acted, I like Pokkiri and Vettaikaran. I cannot differentiate Tamil and Malayalam fans. Both are like husband and wife. They are so fond of me. I will act in Malayalam film if I get a good story. Director is the main reason for a film to be a hit.
Only if the director creates a good story, the film will be a success. Currently I am acting in a film titled Sura. This film will be released during the month of May. I also wanted to act in a different type of role from the usual stereo typed roles.
But I should get the director and producer for this to happen. I don’t have any dream for a particular role. I cannot wait for six months to act in a good story. My wish is to act continuously. I will also be acting in a Malayalam remake film Body Guard.”

Manisha Koraila As Dhanush's Mom In Law?

When whole lot of yesteryear beauties of film industry has been related with Dhanush’s ‘Mappillai’ as mother-in-law, here’s another excitement. Bollywood’s red-hot Manisha Koraila seems to be included in the finalists’ league now.Last evening, actor Dhanush had hosted a press meet for a media interaction regarding his recent release ‘Kutty’. On this occasion, the actor revealed that it will take some more time to establish a prominent position in main league of actors in Kollywood. When asked about the delayed reason of ‘Aadukalam’, Dhanush said, “The film requires lots of preproduction works and director Vetrimaaran has spend nearly a year to record the happening day-to-day lifestyle of Madurai.”So, what about his mother-in-law in ‘Mappillai’? The actor didn’t reveal much about it as he said that director has approached various actresses including Manisha Koraila and soon they’ll finalize the deal.

Ramarajan Becomes A Teacher Now

The word ‘Ramarajan’ really fizzes our spirits as he’s been a great entertainer over the silver screens for decades. Regrettably, the actor never showed up for a long sabbatical gap which turned to be a mere disappointment for all his buffs. But the moment, his ‘Medhai’ was launched; it had gradually raised everyone’s hopes with his comeback.Apparently, the producers have decided to complete the film’s production within a short span of time. The film features Ramarajan in the role of a teacher and there will more heroines sharing the screen space with him. Unlike his previous films, ‘Medhai’ will be a new-patterned movie set in backdrops of city. The film is directed by N.T.G. Saravanan, once an associate of director Hari and Vadivelu will blazon the screens with his hilarious quotients. Dheena scores music to the lyrics of Gangai Amaran, Yugabharathy, Muthuvijayan, Parinaman and Muthulingam. The film is produced under the banner of Kalaimagal Koodam…

Sathyaraj Twirls With One More Number

It’s visibly clear, in an evident manner – Sathyaraj is Blackhorse in 2010. Certainly, his present projects are incisively running into monstrous figures with every flick tending to be brimmed with exceptionalities. He has already completed his portions for ‘Sinam’ – a taut thriller blended with hilarious moments while his other film ‘Aayiram Vizhakku’ with Santhanoo Bhagyaraj is a hardcore crime theme and so will be his ‘Kulasekaranum Koolippadayum’. Indeed, ‘Muriyadi’ has already claimed success for its interesting story inspired from Malayalam movie ‘Passengers’.And now here’s one more film added to his list titled ‘Irandu Mugam’ directed by Aravind Raj, who made his debut before couple of decades with ‘Umai Vizhigal’ (in collaboration with director Aabavanan and his team) is back in showbiz now. The film features Sathyaraj as a CBI officer and Karan as a politician while Nasser, Livingston, M.S. Bhaskar, Ganja Karuppu, Sukran and Kumaresan takes on a prominent role.Bharadwaj has tuned melodies to the film with ‘Miracle’ Michael of ‘Peranmai’ fame choreographing the action sequences.

Shocking News: Prashanth’s cruelty spoils producer’s life

Is there anyone keeping their faces grim when watching ‘Kai Pulla’ comedy from ‘Winner’? Obviously, there’s one person whose eyes are soaked with tears whenever he watches those comedy sequences. He’s none other than the film’s producer himself.
Producer Ramachandran hails from well-doing family with lots of business to handle. He’s been the most respected person in town. But today, he’sworking as a hotel server for his bread and butter and to educate his son. His parents were the residents of big bungalow in town and today, they’ve rented a small hut-like room right next to the town’s graveyard.
We are sure this should’ve really got you aggressively infuriated about the persons responsible for such cruel acts. It’s none other than actor Prashanth and his father Thyagarajan. The father-son are well known for carrying out such conniving trite right from the beginning and now the revelation of producer reveals their true color.
When Ramachandran approached Prashanth with on offer, he had to pay him Rs.28 Lakhs as advance for a total remuneration of Rs.50 Lakhs. His father Thyagarajan never Okayed any script and finally signed Sundar C.
Has Thyagarajan ever allowed his son Prashanth to look his face completely on the mirror? If he had it done at least once, he wouldn’t have asked the producer to sign Kareena Kapoor to his heroine…. Finally, they signed newcomer from Telugu film industry – Aarthi Agarwal as film’s female lead and the producer was forced to pay a big sum.
Apparently, while shooting for a sequence in Kerala, Prashanth seems to have insisted to pay him some more amounts to buy a mansion along the shores. When Ramachandran couldn’t afford the money on that moment, Prashanth left for Chennai without making any prior notices and the producer had a big loss of Rs.80Lakhs and Aarthi Agarwal returned to USA. Of course, paying her Rs.8Lakhs was a terrible loss again. Somehow, the film was completed and it was Vadivelu who deduced his 4-day salary while Sundar C returned back 1.5Lakhs. Producers’ Council Executivemember Siva Sakthi Pandian has been financially supporting for the education of Ramachandran’s son now.
At last Ramachandran concludes saying – “If I had listened to my father, I would’ve never got myself entangled in such speculative situation… Though the film was successful, the distributors who promised me to helpleft me desolated, except one distributor in Coimbatore…”
Even today, the producer cannot stop tears rolling down his cheeks when he comes across those comedy sequences of Vadivelu over the TV channels…

Prasanna strives as black horse

When most of the actors in contemporaneous Tamil film industry are exerting attempts to fetch titles, Prasanna seems to be an elision. The actor has beenmaking soundjudgments when it comes to choosing his scripts.
It was so illustrious with his role-reversal of a baddie in Mysskin’s ‘Anjathey’ and later he stepped out from the idea of picking prototyped roles of a commercial hero. His recent release ‘Naanayam’ portrayed him in an executive role that won more laurels for him across elite audiences.
Now it’s time to keep the audiences of other centres engrossed with his completely contrastive role of ‘Maanja Ravi’ – a ruffian, who feels good for Adharva that he must come up in life.
We, the team of Kollywoodtoday.com convey our wishes for his successful endeavor with these projects to come in future.

Vijay to dance for ‘Ringa Ringa’ in ‘Sura’

Actor Vijay makes sure that he acquires rights over a Telugu song in his every film. (Doubtlessly, he lifts many sequences from Telugu movies as well). Well, he seems to have been transfixed by the mind-boggling musical score of Devi Sri Prasad for a fast beat Kuthu song ‘Ringa Ringa’ in ‘Aarya-2’.
Now, he’ll shake his fast legs for this number in Tamil version for Manisharma’s musical spell in his 50th film ‘Sura’.
The song doesn’t give more prominence to male voice as it is completely dominated by female. The Telugu song happened to be a highlighting factor in this film as Allu Arjun performed certain dance sequences that Vijay himself will feel so difficult to go along with.

Silambarasan becomes Photo Journalist

Soon as this New Year commenced, actor Silambarasan is spotted with the latest digital camera and has been clicking picturesrandomly. As a matter of fact, it was really puzzling for some of the real time photographers as they perceived that Simbhu has picked a new part time profession.
When approached Simbhu, he revealed a surprising news that it’s all about rehearsing for his upcoming film ‘Ko’.
The film is directed by K.V. Anand and is churned out by producer of Simbhu’s yet-to-release ‘Vinnaithnadi Varuvaaya’…
It seems that Simbhu takes on the role of a professional photo journalist and major portion of the film will be shot across the locales of China… Radha’s daughter Karthika stars opposite Simbhu in female lead role while Ajmal takes up a baddie role in the film…
The film’s shooting will commence shortly in China and Harris Jayaraj has completed turning melodies for ‘Ko’…

Suriya, Vikram In ‘Phir Mile Sur’

It’s a memorable revivification of ‘Phir Mile Sur’ as it brings the theme of National integrity and the diversities in our Nation together. On the occasion of 61st Republic Day celebration, Times Group had worked on a special album ‘Phir Mile Sur’ that brought the biggest celebrities of Film and Music Industry together…When it was about representing Tamil Nadu, it was none other than actors Vikram and Suriya. The duo had the voice of Srinivas and their portions were shot across the backdrops of Elliot’s Beach in Besant Nagar, Chennai. Similarly, the album kick-starts with the musical interlude with A.R. Rahman playing on his recently purchased instrument ‘continuum fingerboard’.It’s noteworthy that Bollywood is curiously looking out for the launch of two big stars – Vikram and Suriya as they’ll make their debut in films of Manirathnam and Ram Gopal Varma…

Ajith in dual roles in Asal

Ajith is donning dual roles in the film Asal. This matter has been kept suspense by director Saran. The films which had Ajith in dual roles were great hits.
So the director felt it was not proper to keep suspense and announced this matter. In the initial they were wondering who would be suitable to do the father’s role. But Ajith said that he himself was interested to do the role. The director agreed to this. Director said that Ajith has excelled in this role. Bhavana and Samira Reddy are the heroines of Asal. But it is suspense who will be apiring with father Ajith.

Vikram speaks about director Bala

Vikram who had acted in Bala’s two films said,” I am so happy that Bala has got the best director National Award for his film Naan Kadavul. I felt like that I have got the award. Bala should have got the award for his film Sethu itself.

Though it was his first film Bala did not behave like that he was a new director. He had so confidence. In the first day shooting, the scene was I was to kidnap Abita. He instructed “Walk like this” “Stand here” “Then go there fast” and “Speak like this”.

He had so confidence in his profession. During the shooting of Sethu, he use to say like a prophet,” At this scene you will get applause from the audience” and the audience will applaud for this dialogue. After the release of the film Sethu, I went to the theatre to watch this film.

Whatever scenes Bala told that the audience will applaud, it happened. After this I worked with Bala in the film Pithamaghan. He never told me the whole story when I signed the film. He said,” This is your character. You will not speak. Your friend will be murdered.
What you do is the story of this film. You will get National Award.” Only this much he spoke about Pithamaghan. A director who has confidence in his story and the method he shoots can only speak like this. Every actor has acted well in Bala’s film. It is Bala who can bring out the acting skill of an actor. This award itself is little delayed for Bala. But however this award will form the basis for other awards.”
