Models Cash In on the 'Indian Look'

From the intricate designs on colorful lenghas to the lustrous locks that women from the East are known for, who wouldn't desire the 'Desi look!' After all, we saw how much Nicole Scherzinger grew a love for all things Desi when we put her in a sexy sari for 'Fashion Rocks!' and we even saw pop princess Britney Spears rocking out in a baby blue lengha on her 'Circus' tour. Well, the Asian Runway has teamed up with the London based Lemon Group International to bring the 'Desi look' to fashion events worldwide.
The Asian Runway has started to take on a new company attitude to further promote the 'Desi Look' as the feelings are slowly changing from 'culture clash' to 'culture alignment' worldwide.
It seems like the demand for models with a 'Desi look' has increased these days from clients both in the west and east. This increase in exposure is due to the fact that Hollywood has increased its collaborations with Bollywood to bring films like 'Slumdog Millionaire'. Projects like this showcase the beauty of India and have created a larger demand for Asian celebrities in Western media. This increase has also resulted in a growing amount of consumerism within the global Asian market, which is giving brands a new motivation to capture the attention of the broadening audience.
The Asian Runway has been involved in a number of projects to promote the 'Desi look' campaign. Just recently, the Asian Runway sent one of their models to participate in the Miss England Pageant 2009. She ended up finishing in the top 10, beating out thousands of other participants.
It's very likely that we will be seeing more of the 'Desi look' on fashion runways and in commercials, due to this rise in demand and the work of companies like Asian Runway. One thing is certain: people everywhere just cannot get enough of the beauty of South Asia.
