Ranbir Kapoor was born on September 28, 1983 in Mumbai, India. He belongs to the fourth generation of the famous Kapoor family. The Kapoor’s are considered the first family of the Bollywood Film Industry.
This natural talent comes from a long line of extremely gifted actors. His parents are the popular actors Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh. Ranbir Kapoor may have been born into a prestigious Bollywood family but he wanted to prove to everyone that he knew what he was doing on his own.
Before he became an actor, he studied acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Then before making his acting debut in films, Ranbir Kapoor worked as an assistant director.
In 2005 he was the assistant to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, working on the making of the film ‘Black.’
In 2007 he finally made his Bollywood debut in Bhansali’s ‘Saawariya.’ The film also starred fellow newcomer Sonam Kapoor. Unfortunately the film did not do well in the box office but it did garner Ranbir Kapoor a lot of attention.
He received rave reviews from critics for his portrayal of the lovesick singer, Ranbir Raj. One critic, Taran Adarsh, stated that ‘Ranbir Kapoor is extremely talented…this lad will only make the Kapoor clan proud for years to come.’ Everyone was so impressed with the young actor’s performance that he won the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award in 2008 for his role.
His most recent role was in the film ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ directed by Siddharth Anand. The film did decently at the box office; it did better than his first film. He is also currently dating his co-star from this film, Deepika Padukone.
Ranbir Kapoor has three other projects set to be released later this year, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani,’ ‘Wake Up Sid,’ and ‘Rajneeti.’see less biography
