Lyrics : Irshad Kamil.

Do you remember the fun you had in watching Andaz Apna Apna? The movie happens to be one of the most loved romantic comedies in Hindi film industry. And now Rajkumar Santoshi is back again with his yet another romantic comedy venture Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. With the star cast of Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Rajkumar Santoshi and Pritam expectations run very high. The combination of Pritam and Irshad Kamil resulted in success stories like Love Aaj Kal and Jab We Met. Hence one can obviously look forward to listening to good music. Also this movie is produced by TIPS so one can be rest assured that Ramesh Taurani will only want the best for his famous music label.

Main Tera Dhadkan Teri ...
Vocals: K K , Sunidhi Chauhan, Hard Kaur

A funky song begins with the rap of Hard Kaur. This number has a very remix kind of feel with hip hop and pop music thrown together. Kay Kay’s voice like always is very

energetic and added with Sunidhi’s voice brings out the right rhythm. The arrangements are quite heavy but there is also a variety. The electric guitar and the beats will surely ensure that this song hits the dance clubs and discos.

Tu Jaane Na...
Vocals: Atif Aslam

Tu Jaane Na is more of a love ballad, a romantic number that will surely be sung by many in love. The music is straight and simple. There are also tinges of Qawali kind of tunes thrown in here and there that makes the song more melodious to listen to. The lyrics are also very good and Atif Aslam’s voice as could be predicted has woven its own magic to the song. A welcome change in fact, one that reminds of music of the 80’s – tabla has been used in this song, something that we don’t see in today’s fast music. Listening to this song would make you want to sit back and enjoy.

Oh By God...

Vocals: Mika, Sunidhi Chauhan

This is a song that will surely remind one of old Bollywood tunes. Shehani has been used to a great extent in the song. In fact the tunes would also give you the feel of being at a wedding. The lyrics, voice of Mika and Shehani makes you wonder if this would be a funny song in the movie. The song has a very Indi pop album feel to it, may be because of the voice combinations of Mika and Sunidhi. Can’t promise if this song will burn the charts but it might become famous at Punjabi weddings.

Tera Hone Laga Hoon ...

Vocals: Alisha Chinoy, Atif Aslam

The first sentences of the song would make you sit up and want to listen to the rest of the song. This is a very romantic number that is surely going to be a hit with the college crowd and especially with the ones which look to impress their loved ones. This would surely be a song they would dedicate. The combination of Alisha Chinoy and Atif Aslam is very good. The tunes are very soothing with more of English classic mixed with straight Hindi lyrics to give you a lovely song.

Prem Ki Nayya...
Vocals:
Neeraj Sridhar, Suzzane D’Mello

This one has been sung by the lead singer of Bombay Vikings; Neeraj Sridar, may be that’s why it reminds you of their songs. Prem ki Nayya also has some funny lyrics especially in the chorus sung by Suzzane D’Mello. Also to be noted is that the lyrics also have a tinge of Bojpuri in them. This song would again give you the 80’s feel may be because of its tunes and beats. The song is pleasant and funny to listen to.

Aa Jao Meri Tamana...
Vocals:
Javed Ali

Another romantic number that is surely catchy and good to listen to. This song has been sung by Javed Ali and his modulations, tones and emotions add a very good feel making you want to listen to the song again. But here and there in bits you can feel that his voice has been stressed which is obvious only when he says Kaise Mujme Sama Ho in the high pitch. But you may actually slip that if you’re not concentrating on the music as such. The beats, keyboard and the parts make the song a nice melodious one.

Follow Me ...
Vocals:
Hard Kaur

Hard Kaur on the vocals is very interesting may be it’s because of the changes she makes- masculine feminine tone. She is quite good with the rap. This is a song that has been specially made for the dance floors one guesses. If you are a music lover you may not enjoy this kind of music but if you like dancing then may be you would like the song.

Tu Jaane Na (Reprise Version)...
Vocals: Soham, Rana Mazumdar and Ashish Pandit

This one is as soulful as the original but if you are a fan of Atif you will surely like the original version. But to give credit to Soham he has also done full justice to the lyrics and music. There is more of Indian tabla and beats to this version, also sufi like music which makes you want to listen to the song again.

Main Tera Dhadkan Teri (Remix)
...
Vocals: KK , Sunidhi Chauhan ,Hard Kaur

The original itself was like a remix version so what was the necessity in having another remix version? One wonders! There are not many changes just the pace increased with more beats and more rap.

Tu Jaane Na (Remix Version)...
Vocals: Atif Aslam

Another remix version you wonder? What’s with the music directors of today? Are they confused about what works with the audience that they remix the song in as many tunes as possible. There is nothing different in this version yet again. Only the pace is much faster in fact they could have had this as the original version as there are not many people who enjoy very slow numbers nowadays.

The list of remix version continues with Prem Ki Nayya. Four versions of the same song? God knows for what? The list is never ending. Please just listen to the original tracks and forget these versions.

There are 14 tracks in the movie and one will surely not be bored listening to the original tracks. Only when the remix versions start the music gets a little monotonous and actually irritating. But a very good effort on the whole and one point to be noted is the choice of singers. There has been an effort and one that has paid off. The singers for the songs have been aptly chosen providing a variety.

Also Pritam has provided a variety with the music. There is hip hop, romantic ballads, and disco peppy tracks. There is something for everyone. The choice of instruments is also very interesting especially the tabla and shenoy which gives a very Indian feel to the music. Many of the songs will hit the chart busters but a favorite with many will surely be the romantic numbers Tera Hone Laga Hoon and Tu Jaane Na.
