AKSHAY KUMAR BIO


Akshay Kumar hails from Punjab and was born as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia in the year 1967. He studied in Don Bosco High School, Matunga and later graduated from Khalsa College at Matunga, Mumbai. He debuted in the film Saugandh in the year 1991. Rakhee Gulzar and Shantipriya were also part of the film. In 1992, he got his first commercial success with Khiladi. During the '90s, he was known as the biggest action hero of Bollywood, starring in hit films such as Khiladi (1992), Mohra (1994) and Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995). He was popular for his action 'Khiladi Series' In 2000, he starred in the comedy Hera Pheri which was a huge success and showcased his ability in comedy just as well as action or romantic roles. After the film’s runaway success, Akshay Kumar starred in many successful comedy films which include Awara Paagal Deewana (2002), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Garam Masala (2005) and Heyy Babyy (2007). His first release for 2008 was Tashan which has not set the box-office on fire. But Akshay's performance in the film has been appreciated by the critics and the audience.

In 2004, National Geographic Channel ran a riveting martial arts series Seven Deadly Arts with Akshay Kumar, which was his very first TV venture. Akshay Kumar is the Brand Ambassador for Grasim Suitings and Thums up. His upcoming projects are Singh is Kinng and Chandni Chowk to China. Akshay Kumar married actress Twinkle Khanna, the daughter of veteran actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, on January 14, 2001. They have a son, Aarav, who was born on September 15, 2002.
