Right To Information, popularly known as RTI, is one of the greatest contributions of the present government. It gives the common man a very powerful tool whereby he can question, put forth his queries to the bureaucracy and the who's who of any government institution. RTI recently came into prominence when a number of celebrities (from all walks of life) advocated the cause of the charismatic iron lady of Indian police, Kiran Bedi, being made the CIC (Chief Information Commissioner). And thinking actor Aamir Khan, who is known to voice his opinion strongly on matters concerning the country, was one of the prominent names who suggested Kiran Bedi's name.

The actor was once again seen in his 3 IDIOTS get up (like he always does before the release of his films) when he took part at an RTI award ceremony last weekend in Delhi. Aamir not only shifted the chairs and did other small chores (like a common man) and also showed his intelligence and awareness about RTI when he smartly handled questions put forth by the press, reiterating his demand for Kiran Bedi as the CIC. He also said that he has written to the prime minister about his stand because he is a common man and a citizen of India, which gives him the right to voice his likes and dislikes. He also added that he was willing to be a part of an Ad film (and work free of cost) advocating the cause of RTI in all sections of the government so that India becomes a true democracy, whereby the government is answerable to its people.
Certainly Aamir shows once again that he has the knack of connecting with a social cause or act of public interest, just before his new film releases, thereby benefiting both the cause as well as his film!
