Amitabh's on screen demise still ensures success!
Back in the seventies and eighties, the era obviously dominated by Amitabh Bachchan, saw films like SHOLAY, DEEWAR and MUQADDAR KA SIKANDER etc being remembered for more reasons than one. Not only were they huge commercial success and elevated Amiatbh Bachchan to the status of a demi-God, they also had one thing in common -Amitabh's death scene.
Same was the case in the nineties, with AGNEEPATH, which was not a big commercial success at that time, yet its performance saw Amitabh walking away with a National Award. All this led a few scribes to say that Amitabh Bachchan's death in a film is a sure shot recipe for success. So, is that era over?
CHECK OUT: And this is how Amitabh Bachchan became Auro...
Certainly not! Cut to Bachchan's latest release, Balki's PAA, which has once again demonstrated that Amitabh's on screen demise is still a perfect 'masala' for success. PAA has Big B as Auro, a child inflicted with a rare disease called Progeria and passing away in the film. The film has garnered not only critical acclaim but is doing quite well at the ticket window (netting around 16.50 crore in the first week) with the audience fully sympathizing with Auro, rather the character played by Amitabh Bachchan to perfection.
Well, as they say, some things never change in Bollywood and our example is a testimony to what we have said above, apart from adding nostalgic value too!
