Shahid Kapoor: CHANCE PE DANCE isn't my autobiography
2009 started with a faux pas of sorts when Akshay Kumar's much hyped CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA hardly turned out to be autobiographical; something that the film's marketing and promotion team wanted audiences to believe. Though there were shades of Akshay Kumar's life (which was just specific to his journey from 'Chandni Chowk' to Bangkok), there wasn't anything else in the Nikhil Advani directed film that bore similarities.
Perhaps learning from the entire episode, Shahid Kapoor is understandably denying that his forthcoming release CHANCE PE DANCE is autobiographical in nature. "No, the film isn't an autobiography by any means. That would be completely wrong to state. Yes, there are some similarities in my personal life when compared to that of the character of Sameer that I play in the film. However, that only pertains to my younger days when I was struggling and trying to make it big in the industry. Other than that, there isn't anything else about my personal life that would be seen in CHANCE PE DANCE."
CHECK OUT: Genelia kicks Shahid's butt
In this Ken Ghosh directed film where Genelia D'Souza would be seen opposite Shahid Kapoor for the first time ever, Shahid plays the role of a struggling actor. Trying to make ends meet, he comes in touch with Genelia who is a choreographer. Together they begin a journey which is filled with trials and tribulations that eventually leads to the destination of superstardom.
"It's this journey where elements of my own life come into play", smiles Shahid, "However, let me also add that majority of incidents are such that would happen with every struggler. There are always these 4-5 factors which are common for everyone who is trying to grow in his profession, whether it is acting or anything else."
