Karan Johar talks about release plans of MNIK

Releasing a film across the globe in a phased manner is a trend in the West. It means that a film doesn't see a simultaneous release in all countries on the same week or month but instead travels, though in a planned manner, over a period of time. Now Karan Johar too is following the same release strategy for MY NAME IS KHAN, which has been designed for global audience. A first in Bollywood, this may well spark a new trend when it comes to movies being churned in future.
CHECK OUT: Karan Johar on the idea behind MY NAME IS KHAN
"MY NAME IS KHAN will have a two phase release. To begin with, we would have a mainstream release in India coupled with a regular Diaspora release in UK, US, Gulf, Australia etc. Of course the print count in these countries would be more than what a regular Bollywood film normally arrives with. After that in the months of April and May, we would be looking at a mainstream theatrical release in countries like Germany, Poland and other parts of North America", details Karan who has massive plans already in place for further promotion of this Shahrukh Khan and Kajol starrer en route to it's release.
With his labour of love all set to be unveiled in front of audiences over the weekend that leads to Valentines Day, Karan Johar is indeed counting days en route to the film's release. There is nothing less than a modern day classic that one expects from MY NAME IS KHAN and there are all the right reasons to believe that the film is all set to turn out to be one. Now if the final product indeed brings in the strong fragrance of a love with the entire issue element being a driving factor of the entire enterprise, the wait could really be worth it.
A co-production of Karan Johar and Gauri Khan, MY NAME IS KHAN releases all over on 12th February 2010
