Oscar winner Resul Pookutty honoured with Padma Shri award

Making the country proud by winning the Oscar in sound-mixing, Resul Pookutty, the unprecedented sound engineer was awarded 'The Padma Shri Award', one of the most honourable and prestigious civilian awards in India.
Almost a week before Resul Pookutty, known for live sound recording in Bollywood, was honoured with a Padma Shri on India's 60th Republic Day by the President of India, Prathibha Patil. The Padma Shri Award is given to the eminent personalities from different parts of the Indian society as recognition of their outstanding contribution to their respective fields.
On the occasion, Resul Pookutty said, "It is indeed an honour for me to get the highest recognition in my own country. I acquired sound recording skill in FTI, Pune and made my career in Mumbai. It is around same time last time that I got my Oscar nomination too. Accolades at Oscar had given me a lot of pleasure but a Padma Shri award has truly honoured me and made me feel complete and extremely happy."
Resul Pookutty, who has made history by being the first Indian sound engineer to win an Academy award in 80 years of its history to follow the same path and keep inspiring each individual of the nation.
