Vidya Balan: It was thrilling to play a bad woman

ISHQIYA is a success and Vidya Balan now finds herself firmly placed in the big league with Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu. In a way, it appears that Vidya is pretty much ready to shock the industry by getting into a role, as seen in ISHQIYA, which no one expected her to feature in. From a single mom in PAA to a widow who has two men dancing to her tune - it seems like a good transformation as well.
'Krishna (the name of my character in ISHQIYA) is someone whom you can't deceive and in case you catch her on the wrong foot, you are doomed', laughs Vidya, 'If she loves someone, she does so with an open heart and is all passionate. On the other hand you make yourself her enemy and she won't think twice about showing the violent and aggressive side of hers. She will do what she wants.'

Basking in the glory of film's success and enjoying all the accolades coming her way, Vidya admits that the sheer thrill of playing a woman with negative shades to her character is something that drew her closer to ISHQIYA.
'Yes, it's a fact that for me, the most thrilling part was to be playing a bad woman for the first time', smiles Vidya, 'You know, I have got some really strange messages around ISHQIYA. While it is understandable when someone comments that there is this light aggressive sexuality that I bring on screen in the film, one producer actually came to me and said that he never believed I could be so - hold your breath - raunchy! Can you beat that?'
