All the Abhishek Bachchan fans in the UK will get the opportunity to interact with their idol as he flies into London this week for a series of events at the Tongues on Fire 12th Asian Film Festival. The glitterati of Asian cinema will be heading to the capital from 5th -14th March which will see 30 films being screened, along with a series of premieres and other special events.
A BAFTA interview with Abhishek Bachchan opens the festival on Friday, celebrating the cinematic achievements of one of Bollywood’s biggest stars. Bachchan, 34, is expected to be accompanied on his UK visit by wife Aishwarya Rai, the actress and former Miss World. The event will be followed by an Opening Gala Dinner at Sheraton Park Lane Hotel compered by actor Rizwan Ahmed. The Gala dinner will see Jaya Bachchan, the first lady of Bollywood, presented with “A Lifetime Achievement Award” for her contribution to the Indian film Industry, in a career that has spanned four decades
Abhishek, who has been nominated for Filmfare awards for his roles in Bunty aur Bably, Guru and Dostana, is scheduled to deliver an Actor’s Masterclass the following day 6th March at the Apollo Cinema in London’s West End. The class promises to be a rare opportunity for film industry professionals and anyone interested in a career in film to discover what makes Bachchan and the characters he plays so successful, as the star discusses his journey as an actor and the tactics he uses to prepare for his roles. The event will be followed by a screening of Mani Ratnam’s 2007 hit Guru, one of Bachchan’s biggest career performances.
