Filmmaker Shyam Benegal's cinema has always been class apart. So now all eyes are set on his upcoming film WELL DONE ABBA, which releases on 26th March 2010.
On one side WELL DONE ABBA, which pertains to the middle class people and talks about a common man's life, gives an impression of being a mass affair, but at the very same time when one looks at the subject of the film, one wonders if the film is meant for classes.
CHECK OUT: WELL DONE ABBA is a political satire
The lead actor of the film, Boman Irani, however, has his own perspective towards it, "That's a good point! I think it appeals to the masses because it is so beautifully layered. At the same time it's for the intellectual, intelligent and for the simple cinegoer, who wants to get entertained, in that respect we have a film here which appeals to everybody. I am not talking about looking at the markets, which is bad. If the film speaks well than the language becomes universal. So it's not just your mass audience or the class audience or whatever as you say. The true test of the film is when it can be shown anywhere in the world and people can understand it, relate it."
Looks like a yet another masterpiece from the maverick filmmaker Shyam Benegal!
