LAHORE - tagline demystified!

'Beyond borders, Between nations, Lies a battle to end all wars.' The tagline of Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's LAHORE evokes strong emotions, especially from those who have been at the receiving end of the dreaded and despised, self inflicted calamity called war. No doubt that wars have plagued several countries, crippling their economy and wiping a whole lot of communities and population, leaving behind a grieving nation. Even poor countries, with not enough resources to feed their people, spend a fortune on their defense budget, and so hypothetically if we think nobly like the makers and director of LAHORE, then the world would definitely be a much better place to live in, where the emphasis will be on better living conditions and high thinking.

We then thought of asking the director of LAHORE, Sanjay, what his tagline means in the context of the film, which is about the life of a young kick boxer. And his answer was, "See, The film is based on the bitter-sweet Indo-Pak relationship which undergoes changes as swiftly as the season. Sometimes its cordial and friendly, other times its enmity at its height. The promo of the film which being aired is not complete as the first part is not yet there and it shows politicians (of both the countries) talking to each other saying- 'We have played all kinds of games, proxy wars, terrorist attacks, skirmishes on the borders as well as real battles, for the past 63 years. And now its high time we played a real game (sport) and decide the eventual winner, once and for all'. So, that's how the element of kick boxing and the tagline comes in."
Mighty thrilling one must add and makes LAHORE quite an exciting prospect that one can look forward to in these days with Bollywood mostly churning out mediocre and meaningless cinema these days.
