Legendary filmmaker Kamal Amrohi’s sons – Tajdar and Shandar Amrohi are gearing up for legal battle with a relative over a prime Mumbai property, and are full of praise for actress Preity Zinta for supporting them. They say “she is a blessing in disguise”.“My brother (Shandar) considers Priety as his daughter. She is a blessing in disguise for us. She is a very strong girl and is fighting for the right cause. God bless her,” Tajdar told IANS over phone from Mumbai.Tajdar and Shandar are jointly fighting a legal battle with a kin over the sprawling Kamalistan Studios off the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road. Though media reports say they are at loggerheads with their sister Rukhsar, Tajdar has refused to name anyone. However, others say their fight is with a Pune-based power broker and builder.“I don’t want to name them right now. But the people I am talking about know who I am pointing towards,” said Tajdar. The brothers filed a police complaint Feb 23, but the FIR was not immediately lodged.“There is too much pressure on the police because the person whose name features in the complaint is a very rich and influential man,” he said.He also revealed that he has been regularly getting threat calls.“I regularly get threatening calls. Once goons with weapons came to my studio and threatened me. I want to tell everyone that if tomorrow I die in some accident, then it will not be an accident, it will be a murder,” expressed a visibly agitated Tajdar.Rizwan Siddiquee, the lawyer of Kamalistan studios that was started by Kamal Amrohi, told IANS: “The studio shares are in the name of the two brothers and one sister. They are not allowed to sell the shares to anyone outside their own family and if they wish to do so, they need to get a no objection certificate from the other two.”The property issue gathered heat when Rukhsar reportedly sold her shares to someone outside the family without taking a no-objection certificate from her brothers.
