Priyanka Chopra: Today, the trend is changing

Soon after her return from the US shoot of ANJAANA ANJAANI, Priyanka Choprahas been bestowed upon the National Award for Best Female Actor in FASHION. No wonder, there are huger expectations from her from this point in. So is this the beginning of a new trend where awards at the highest levels are being conferred to actors who come from mainstream commercial background and have no qualms in donning an ultra glam avtar film after film?
"I don�t think that it is true", promptly says Priyanka, "There have been a lot of commercial films which have been getting quite some visibility at the highest levels over the last few years. The trend is changing. There is a lot of meaningful content in films like these."

While she is happily crediting the content of films which are facilitating her rise to a pedestal as high as this, she can't be undermining her own effort behind the entire enterprise as well, right? After all, an actor needs to bring in certain conviction to the character as well, right?
"Of course yes, but content is most important", she says, "You may come up with a great performance but if your film's content is weak, a performance can't make any difference to the final product. Both components have to be in the right mix."
Well, one looks forward to the content of her next release ANJAANA ANJAANI which is arriving later this year. Priyanka would also be beginning shoot for Farhan Akhtar's sequel to DON with Shah Rukh Khan and Vishal Bharadwaj's next which would have seven male actors opposite here.
