Singamuthu behind bars

The tussle between two comedians is turning out to be serious every passing day. The Chennai police on Sunday arrested Singamuthu for allegedly abusing Vadivelu’s office assistant at the latter’s office earlier in the day.
The police picked up Singamuthu from his house at Valasaravakkam and produced before a magistrate court in Saidapet. He was remanded in judicial custody for 15 days at the Puzhal prison.
He was booked under Sections 506 (II) (criminal intimidation), 294 (b) (abusing in filthy language) and 341 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code. Vadivelu had earlier accused Singamuthu of cheating him of several crores of rupees by forging property documents.
Meanwhile, Vadivelu on Saturday called on Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to “seek his blessings” for acting in ‘Ilaignan’, a film starring lyricist Pa Vijay in the lead role, with Karunanidhi penning the dialogues.
