Dhanush’s training to Yathra

For the last few months, Dhanush, who became a father for the second time a couple of days ago, was teaching something to his first son Yathra. Guess what? It’s about how to take the arrival of a new member.

“I am no doubt a responsible father. I have trained Yathra well to celebrate his sibling’s arrival. He is cool about it and was very thrilled to see his younger brother for the first time,” the son-in- law of Superstar Rajinikanth says.

On his father-in-law’s reaction, Dhanush says, “He was the one who became very much excited on knowing the glad news. He was there at the hospital for a long time and celebrated the arrival of his grandson.”

Saying Aishwarya and the new born are doing extremely well, the actor adds: “I was shooting in Ooty when Yathra was born. So this time I made sure that I should be with Aishwarya. And I was there when the baby came to this world.”

A 'record' with 'Kanimozhi'

Young director Sripathy is touching a milestone with his first film 'Kanimozhi'. With all support from producer T Siva of Amma Creations, the debutant is making live recording, which is not just exhaustive, but expensive too.

According to a source in the unit, only natural light has been used to shoot for the film. "We have recorded it using sync sound. Dubbing is only for heroine Shazahn’s character. Everyone else has done live recording."

On the difficulties involved in live recording, the source says: "The rent for camera will be high in normal shootings. But for films using live recording, the rent for the high quality recorder is higher than that of camera."

"Also, a silent power generator has to be used for live recording whose rent too is expensive," the source says and adds: “However, producer Siva is not bothered about it and is ready to spend to get a quality end product”.

Shankar banks on ‘Ananthapurathu Veedu’

At a time when the entire industry is waiting for ‘Endhiran’, director of the film Shankar is concerned about the fate of his production venture ‘Ananthapurathu Veedu’, besides giving finishing touches to the Superstar starrer.

For, sources close to him say he would take a decision on producing movies in future only after the release of the thriller, directed by popular small screen director Naga with Nandaa and Chaya Singh in the lead roles.

“Quality has been a watchword of films produced by Shankar. Most of his production ventures attempted to take Tamil cinema to the next level. At the same time, some of them failed to touch the breakeven,” sources say.

They add: “Following this, Shankar has decided to exercise extra caution before finalising projects for S Pictures. A final decision will be taken after gauging the feedback ‘Ananthapurathu Veedu’ gets.”

‘Me and Mysskin – no creative indifferences’ – Cheran

Filmmaker Cheran’s previous film ‘Pokkisham’ wouldn’t have gone ahead making a wonder work at box office. Drenched with most terrific reviews about the film, director Cheran maintained a low profile and is now revived with his high-spiritedness over his next film ‘Yuddham Sei’.

The film is directed by Mysskin and is produced by Kalpathy S Agoram under the banner of AGS Entertainment. Says Cheran: ‘Performing the role of a don doesn’t mean that I must look so strong with thick moustache and 6-pack like Hrithik Roshan. But I will substantial enough to look fit to bash down the baddies.”

When asked about any difference of opinions popping up between Cheran and Mysskin, he says, “Definitely not, Mysskin got ready with the script much prior to approaching me and I was clear with the character I am playing…”

The film ‘Yuddham Sei’ is fast on the heels of completion and will be releasing by mid-of-2010.

Mahesh ready for his next

Mahesh who entered Kollywood as the boy next door became an instant sensation after ‘Angadi Theru’. The young actor was flooded with offers after that but he was not in a hurry and waited for the right offer to match his first film.

Now it seems Mahesh is ready for his next and accepted a film to be produced by S. Balaji under the banner Box Office Production. Mahesh plays the hero who is a student by day and a thief at night. The search for the heroine is on. Director Venkatesh also plays an important role.

The yet to be titled film will be directed by debutante Balasriram who assisted A. Venkatesh in films like Bagavathi, Malai Malai and Maanja Velu. Srikanth Deva will tune the songs.

What next for Shankar? Vijay?

Shankar will complete ‘Endhiran’ in August and be ready for his next. But what is that next? ‘Endhiran’ was launched in early 2008 and has taken a good two and a half years of Shankar’s time. But the effort is worth the wait as ‘Endhiran’ is going to be the biggest Tamil film ever made.

‘Endhiran’ releases for Diwali and after that Shankar is roumoured to take up a film for Gemini Labs. Though called rumour there is still a talk in trade circles that the film Shankar would be doing for Gemini is the Tamil remake of ‘3 Idiots’. Gemini has the south Indian remake rights for the epic hit ‘3 Idiots’ which starred Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor. The production house is said to have even sounded that Vijay has agreed to play Aamir in the Tamil version.

A film by Shankar wit Vijay is long due. He went online sometime back saying “Many of Vijay fans wanted to know when I am going to do a film with them. Already I had ideas of doing ‘Mudhalvan’ with Vijay (next to Rajini Sir). If a script suits Vijay I’ll definitely do a film with him”. Putting pieces together the pundits feel that suitable script is this and Shankar will direct Vijay at last.

As all even we are waiting for more.

Kamal Haasan Retrospective in Delhi

All-rounder actor and south star Kamal Haasan will be honoured in Delhi soon.

According to reports a 3-day film festival titled ‘Retrospective of Kamal Haasan Films’ will be held in the capital from July 2nd till July 4th.

The festival will be will be inaugurated by Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni at Siri Fort Auditorium.

Some of the popular works of the actor will be showcased here.

The festival will open with the screening of Kamal’s Hindi film ‘Hey Ram’.

In the course of the festival, his Tamil films namely ‘Anbe Sivam’, ‘Virumaandy’, ‘Thevar Magan’, ‘Dasavatharam’ and ‘Nayagan’ and one Telugu film ‘Sagar Sangamam’ will be screened.

GAUTHAM TO JOIN MANI RATNAM?

Karthik’s son Gautham is ready to follow the career path of his father and grandfather Muthuraman. The star has been scouting for suitable roles, banners and directors to make his son’s launch a definite success.

And the latest buzz in Kollywood is that ace director Mani Ratnam had reportedly told Karthik to wait for an announcement on his next film in which he intends to give a role to Gautham.

It may be recalled that Karthik and Mani Ratnam’s association dates back to their Mouna Ragam days and they then went on to give the smash hit Agni Natchathiram. Karthik also played an important role in the recently released Raavanan.

Nearly after three years, the producer is now back with a bang signing Vijay and Jeyam Raja for ‘Velayudham’. Reported to be a remake of Telugu movie ‘AZAD’ starring Nagarjuna in lead role, the film has Genelia D’Souza and Hansika Motwani in female lead.The movie launch will take place on July 15 at Madras University Auditorium and Vijay fans will be allowed to take part in this occasion.Previously it was mentioned that either Vidhyasagar or Vijay Anthony will be scoring music and now Harris Jayaraj has been signed while Priyan of ‘Singam’ fame will handle cinematography.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has filed a complaint at the Cyber Crime Cell in Mumbai. The actress was shocked to find a scanned copy of her passport leaked in the World Wide Web. Following this, she lodged a complaint. In her complaint, the actress had stated that all the details of her travels to foreign countries and her birth date have been leaked.

The actress has said that she had never given her passport to a third person barring the production houses to make arrangements for film shootings held abroad. The police are investigating the issue and are said to suspect that one of the production house could have leaked the info.

Sonia Agarwal In Kasthoori Raja’S Film

When everybody in tinsel town is awaitingthe official confirmations of Ajith Kumar’s 50th film, there happens to be a sort of perplexed scenarios amongst the team. Here comes an unconfirmed buzz that Gowtham Menon may not director Ajith Kumar’s 50th film while Venkat Prabhu is likely to bag the offer.

Apart from this film, Ajith Kumar seems to have been holding discussions with Sivaji Productions for a film that will be made simultaneously in Chennai. IF what we heard from the closer sources is believed to be true, the film will be directed by none other than ‘Billa’ fame Vishnuvardhan.

At the moment, Gowtham Menon remains unavailable for the comments as he is busy preparing himself for the enxt bilingual movie with Rana and Samantha in lead roles.

Manirathnam to produce more films

He’s badly in need of rest and nothing is going to compensate with his health. The filmmaker had a very tough time while filming his trilingual film ‘Raavanan’ and that could have been the reason letting buzzes open that it was his associate directors Azhagam Perumal and S.S. Stanley completing few portions.

There are more mixed reviews for the films and the box office collections are proving to be good at certain standards while poor in B and C centres. Meanwhile, there is a news spreading from Manirathnam’s office that he has got 3 scripts: one Simbhu to be shot in exotic foreign locations and another one for Dhanush tentatively titled as ‘Pookada’ and the final script, a big bang action packed thriller drama.

The biggest question is that whether he will be directing this film or else just produces it for his protégés or some of the ace filmmakers.

I can't wait: Trisha

"I have put 110 per cent in ‘Khatta Meetha’ and can't wait for July 23 when the film releases," says Trisha, who is making her Bollywood debut with the Priyadarshan-directed movie, which has Akshay Kumar as the leading man.

The actress, who is currently shooting with Kamal Haasan in France for 'Manmadhan Ambu', says, "My role in ‘Khatta Meetha’ was meaty and everything was just so perfect. Everything just happened over a 10 minutes phone call, all thanks to Priyan."

Save 'Raavanan', says Suhasini

Suhasini today called on Chennai Commissioner of Police T Rajendran to stop the flow of pirated DVDs of the movie 'Raavanan', produced and directed by the actress's husband Mani Ratnam.

Talking to journalists after lodging the complaint, Suhasini said, "Pirated DVDs of the movie were brought to Chennai from Puducherry and other neighbouring States. We have also lodged a complaint to Puducherry Chief Minister Vaithilingam."

She added: "The police chief has immediately requested his subordinates to look into the issue". Suhasini also denied the alleged involvement of the people in the film industry in bringing out the pirated versions.

REVATHY FINALIZES HER NEXT FILM

Revathy Varma will direct Hamesha I Will Love You, which will have Ayesha Takia and Ananth Narayan playing the lead roles. It is a love story that would revolve around Ananth, a sociable bachelor and Ayesha, a bubbly girl.A press note from Revathy states: “As the title indicates, the film is a love saga. Rana to romance Samantha in Gautham Menon’s film!

Telugu film ‘Leader’ fame heroDaggubati Rana is all set to work for a new film under the direction of ace filmmaker Gautham Menon. It is said to be a bilingual film to be made in both in Tamil and Telugu.

Sources said that the Rana’s bilingual film to be made with Selva as said before has been dropped due to some differences. They adds further that it looks like Gautham has also dropped his ‘VTV’ Hindi remake and fully concentrates on this Rana’s bilingual project.

The gorgeous beauty Samantha who played a lead role in Telugu version of ‘VTV’ (‘Ye Maya Chesave’) is going to pair up with Rana in this film. A photo shoot has been held on Rana and Samantha yesterday and the shooting will commence in July. This is yet to be titled and the other details of the film will be announced soon.

Vijay as doctor in ‘Pagalavan’!

It was reported earlier that directorSeeman is gearing up to directIlayathalapathy Vijay for his 53rd film and it has been tentatively titled as‘Kobam’. But now, it is said that it has been changed as ‘Pagalavan’ which will be produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanuunder V Creations banner.

The director Seeman said “It will have Vijay working for the fire brand for the first time. True to its title ‘Pagalavan’, this film will also show its anger against the non-performing system which is glitter out side but rotten inside. It will have progressive messages relevant for the youth and well wisher of the land today.”

Sources say that currently the pre production works are going on and the discussions are being made on the script. It is also heard that Vijay will be seen as a doctor who treats the Eelam Tamils who were cruelly suppressed by the Lankan armed forces last year

Rajkiran will direct in August

We first broke the story in March that of Rajkiran returning to direct a film and also playing the hero in it. Now the news is that Rajkiran will start its shooting as early as in August.

It will be produced by Rajkiran himself under his home banner Red Sun Art Creations which gave many a super hits in the late 80s. The film is titled 'Thirumangalathu Yaanai'. Story, Screenplay and Dialogues are all by Rajkiran and the music is by his lucky mascot Ilaiyaraja.

The crux of 'Thrumangalathu Yaanai' is about the dangers of aspiring beyond one's limits. The story goes like this. A girl who desires to marry a strikingly handsome man is forced to settle with an average man Rajkiran. Quarrels erupt after marriage and the responsibility of changing the heroine into a mild mannered home maker falls on Rajkiran.

Rajkiran is currently busy with some impressive films like Ponnan-Shankar, Charithiram, Thiruthai and Kaavalkaran. Once he is through with this all he will settle for his directorial venture. But he is to finalise the heroine before that.

Baby Boy for Dhanush-Aishwarya

Dhanush and Aishwarya have been blessed with their second child, a baby boy at 6.21 AM on Monday(June 21). The couple already have a son Yathra born in 2006. It is celebration time in both Rajinikanth’s family and Kasturi Raja’s family to welcome their second grandchild.

Both Mom and the Baby are doing fine and Dhanush was shooting in Chennai and was at the side of his wife Aishwarya when their second child was born.

The UK Box office result for the week just ended is out and to the merry of all Surya fans his ‘Singam’ has topped among all the foreign films. Till last week 'Singam' has grossed over 8 million pounds in the UK market.

Singam ranked 41st on the charts and collected four thousand pound only in last week. So far the movie has collected over 80 lakhs in UK which is an achievement.

Manirathnam Says ‘No’ To Silambarasan

Manirathnam’s ‘Raavanan’ has stepped on to epitome of success all throughout the globe with a grand release of 2200 prints. Much before the town could get away from the ‘Raavanan’ fever; he is ready with his next project.The closer sources to Manirathnam have confirmed that his next film wouldn’t be a bilingual. Instead it will be shot in Hindi with Ranbir Kapoor in lead role and rest of the star-casts is yet to be confirmed. Earlier, Mani had plans about making the film in Tamil as well with Silambarasan in lead role and now has stopped it from proceeding ahead.Though it remains as an unconfirmed buzz, it seems that the entire film will be shot across exotic locales of cities including a major portion in London.P.C. Sriram has signed to handle cinematography while Manirathnam’s most favorite A.R. Rahman will tune melodies and Sreekar Prasad as editor.

Mani makes it clear

Even as a controversy is brewing over Mani Ratnam’s interpretation of ‘Ramayanam’ in his recent release ‘Raavanan’, the director has said he never wanted to glorify Raavanan, the villain of the epic, in his film.

“My movie is about a mighty man whose behaviour is due to different attitudes that strike his mind to adopt for a situation. It’s like 10 different persons sitting inside one man. Hence the title”, the ace filmmaker clarified.

Meanwhile, Bollywood veteran Mahesh Bhatt came to the support of Amitabh Bachchan, who expressed unhappiness over the editing of the film’s Hindi version ‘Raavan’ which has his son Abhishek Bachchan in the lead.

“A dad is a dad is a dad. Who else would come out but a father to protect his son from fires of perceived failure?” the filmmaker said. In the meantime, amidst reports that the movie has bombed at the box office, distributor Reliance Big Pictures has claimed that the film has grossed Rs 53 crore worldwide with in three days of its release.

Hari talks about his next

Not just his films, but Hari too is fast. With his last release ‘Singam’ successfully crossing 25 days in cinema halls and reports claiming ‘record collections’, the director is getting ready for his next venture.

The film will bring together the success pair of ‘Padikadhavan’, Dhanush and Tamannah, once again. Rajkiran will play a pivotal role while Devi Sri Prasad, whose songs for ‘Singam’ are topping the charts, will score the music.

Says Hari, “The film will be a complete action entertainer set in the backdrop of Sivaganga. Though the movie will have a lot of stunt scenes, they will not defy logic and will fit to Dhanush’s image.”

He adds: “The yet –to-be titled film will go to floors by the end of August. I am planning to work with cinematographer Priyan again but everything depends on ‘Velayudham’ starring Vijay, since he has been roped in to work for the movie”.

MISHAP IN A R RAHMAN’S CONCERT… EVENT CANCELLED…

The stage erected in Detroit, US, where the Oscar winner A R Rahman was to perform, fell apart injuring 10 people. Rahman is on a world tour and will be conducting music shows in US and Europe. The show in Detroit, which was to be held today, was a part of this tour, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the mishap.

NASSER IN CRIMINAL COURT

Nasser had filed a petition in 2006 alleging that the defendant Ramanathan borrowed Rs. 50 lakhs on the pretext of making a Bollywood film. He, however, did not keep up his commitment and failed to return the amount, he had stated in the petition. This issue was pending in a criminal court in Chennai.

The actor appeared before the court yesterday to take back the case stating that they had reached an out of court settlement on the intervention of Producers’ Council

Tamannaah to pair up with Dhanush for ‘Aruva’!

Hari who has proved as a successful director once again with the latest Surya starrer ‘Singam’ is gearing up for next ventures which is likely to be commenced in August. His new venture has been titled as ‘Aruva’ that features Dhanush in the lead role and milky beauty Tamannaah is going to pair up with him.

Sources say that the film is expected to be an action entertainer and the director Hari is keenly working on the script to make it suit for Dhanush. Devi Sri Prasad will compose the tunes while Priyan handles the camera. Raj Kiran plays an important role in the film.

Saranya Mohan is Vijay’s Sister in Velayudham

Vijay’s 51st film “Kavalkaran’ directed by Siddhique is close to completion. Vijay’s next movie is Velayudham and it is being directed by Jayam Raja. Already it is confirmed that Genelia D’Souza and Hansika Motwani plays female lead roles in the movie.

Now the latest update from Velayudham movie cast is that, Saranya Mohan will play vijay’s Sister in the movie. Recently along with the two heroines, Saranya Mohan took part in the photo shoot. Velayudham is being produced by Aascar Films Venu Ravichandran.

Velayudham is said to be a remake of the 2000 Blockbuster Telugu film Azad.

Is Aishwarya Rai pregnant?

News is spreading that actress Aishwarya Rai could be in the family way.

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya fell in love on the sets of Mani Ratnam’s ‘Guru’ that was shot in 2006.

Aish and Abhishek got married in April 2007. She continued to act in films after marriage, like ‘Jodha Akbar’ opposite Hritik Roshan, ‘Sarkar Raj’ and English film ‘Pink Panther 2’. Her latest film ‘Ravanan’ got released worldwide yesterday. She is acting with Rajini in ‘Endhiran’ and in 2 Hindi films that are all set for release.

It’s said Aishwarya did not release any such news that she’s pregnant and it’s the Bollywood media that’s supposed to have found out and released it. Instead of wearing her usual form fitting clothes, she wore loose clothes for the publicity functions for ‘Ravanan’.

It’s said she is wearing such clothes to hide the bulge in her tummy, but despite that, one could make out the tummy. There could soon be a formal announcement. Anushka while speaking about her said,” I was born in Mangalore and brought up in Bangalore. I have studied BCA in the famous Mount Carmel College were lot of heroines studied. Many are thinking my nickname is Sweetie. It is wrong. My real name itself is Sweetie Shetty.

I have changed my name as Anushka for cinema. I learnt Yoga to teach others. But the Telugu director who came to my yoga class made me a heroine. My yoga master is Bharath Thakur. I am not fond of jewels. I will not wear jewels. But for the film Arundhathi I had to wear 12 kilos of jewels. My mother seeing me with jewels was very happy.

I am getting lot of offers because of my personality and height but I always thought that I should have been little shorter. My next Telugu film is being produced by my make-up man. He was doing make-up for so many years and when he requested me to act, I readily agreed.

I have the habit of noting down the interesting proverbs and quotes and whenever I am depressed I read this and get rejuvenated. I am a lonely person. I can stay in my room for the whole day alone. I do cardio exercises for 40 minutes and yoga afterwards. After 8 I will not eat. In the night I have early dinner. This is my fitness style.

I interviewed Thamanna for a TV channel and we became very close. I am very fond of vegetarian foods but I can cook good non vegetarian dishes. Whenever I get time I go to Bangalore where I run my own restaurant.”

New faces in Kadhalikalama

A Sundramurthy is producing a film titled Kadhalikalama under the banner Revathy Cine Creations. Kishore Kumar, Solomon and Raj Prabhu are doing the lead roles. Emmy Varadha is the heroine of this film. Pandu, Sethu Vinayagam, Nellai Siva, Amarasigamani.

Bonda Mani, Gnanadesigan, Kuyilee, Jayalakshmi, Sree Lakshmi and Abhinayashree are also starring in this film. Sathya Shivan who has written the story, screenplay and dialogues is also directing this film. The director says,” This film is about the present day’s youth’s mind set and romance. A good message is given to the parents. The shooting of this film has taken in Chennai and Pondicherry.”

Power Fast is in charge of stunts while choreography has been taken care by Sudhakar Vasanth and Varasuriya. Subramania Balaji is handling the camera. Jacob Vimal Raj composes the music for the lyrics penned by Priyan, Tamizh Kumaran and Ratan Chandrasekaran.

Jai says that he wants to become an action hero

Jai says that he wants to do action hero roles and that Vaamanan is the forerunner. When speaking to the media, he said,” Many are asking me whether I will continue to act in two hero subjects. In future I have decided not to act in double hero films.

But if Venkat Prabhu asks I will definitely act because I have that much faith on him. Even if he makes me act with four heroes I can bring out my acting skills. He will keep the scenes that will highlight my character. I will not act if any one else calls me. Even if Sasi Kumar calls me, he should act with me.

I have decided to do action roles. I am already trained for fighting sequences. Vaamanan is an action film. But I want to act as a wholesome action hero. Whenever I go for shooting to other places, my fans request me to do action roles.

As a first stage A Venkatesh and Perarasu have offered me action roles. Talks are going on regard to this. I am currently acting in the film titled Kanimozhi. I am waiting for good stories. I will announce once the films are finalized.”

Actress Shika says that she is very happy to act in Tamil films

Shika had captured the hearts of many by her cuteness in the film Kola Kolaya Mundhrika. Recently while speaking to the media, she said,” I am a native of Bangalore. My father is working in a private company. My mother is house wife. I have a brother. I have studied B Com.

I know western dance and Bharathanatiyam. I am the first person who has come to act. Because of this I did not get proper support from my family. Now since lots of people are appreciating me, my family has got some confidence on me. My real name is Bhavana and I have changed my name as Shika because there is already another Bhavana.

Shika means big. With regard to how I got the opportunity in Kola Kolaya Mundhrika is during my college days I use to draw a lot. Because of this I got the opportunity to act in a Kannada film. That is my first film. I had come for a marriage function in Chennai. Madhumitha madam, who saw me, phoned and asked me whether I am willing to act and asked me to come to the photo shoot.

So I met her and after a week’s time she told me that I am selected. My joy was boundless at that moment. I am very happy that I got the opportunity to act in a Tamil film. The reason for this is because the other language actresses are also interested to work in Tamil films. Tamil cinema is much spoken about throughout the world.

Since I did not know Tamil, I learnt Tamil for two weeks. After this I came to Chennai. Before the shooting commenced Madhumitha madam gave me lot of coaching for a week’s time. I am also proud that my first Tamil film was directed by a woman director. I am getting lots of offer after my first Tamil film. I will announce this after everything is finalized.”

Lavanya speaks about her unforgettable appreciation

Lavanya who made her entry into the tinsel world as a child artist, later on started donning sister roles. She has almost acted with the all the leading actors including Rajnikanth, Sathyaraj and Karthik. Now she has done a role in Kalaignar’s Pen Singam for which has received the appreciation from Kalaignar himself.

She is in cloud nine. When she spoke to the media, she said,” I have so far acted in more than 95 films. Though I have acted in so many films it is not an easy thing to act in a film which has the story and dialogues of Kalaignar. I am happy that I got the opportunity.

Though I had only few scenes in this film I agreed to act in this film because the story and dialogues are by Kalaignar. Kalaignar after seeing a fighting scene has remarked to the director that I have acted well. I was happy when I heard this.

I cannot forget this appreciation in my life time. Currently I am acting in Ananthapurathu Veedu and Naan Ennul Illai. In Ananthapurathu Veedu I am pairing with Krishna and in Naan Ennul Illai I am donning the role of the hero’s sister. “
