Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2, 1981 in McComb, Mississippi. By the time Spears was 11 she was a contestant on "Star Search" and a year later she starred on "The Mickey Mouse Club." In 1997 Britney Spears signed a contract with Jive records and two years later released the song that would launch her into super stardom, "...Baby one More Time." Her second album, "Oops!... I did it again" debuted at number one and earned her two Billboard Awards.
After her third album, "Britney," Britney Spears took a 6 month break from her career shortly after she ended her relationship with singer Justin Timberlake. In 2002 Spears tried her hand at acting, starring in the film "Crossroads." Despite the poor reviews the film still earned $60 million at the box office. Britney Spears' fourth album, "In the Zone" earned her a Grammy, her first.
On the lead track off the Grammy winning album "Me Against the Music" Britney teamed up with Madonna. South Asian producer Rishi Rich managed to get a hold of Spears representatives and remixed the track "Me against the Music." Rishi adds dhol and tumbi loops with the classic Bhangra chants which go well with Britney's voice.
Outside of music, Britney Spears has been a popular media target. In 2004 she was married in Las Vegas to childhood friend Jason Alexander, the marriage was annulled. That same year she was engaged to Kevin Federline who she has two children with.
In 2007 Britney Spears' fifth album "Blackout" made her the only artist to have five albums debut at number one or number two. However, personal troubles involving a divorce and a custody battle with Kevin Federline overshadowed her album. 2008 marked the rebirth of Spears. She had a small role on the show "How I Met Your Mother" and won three MTV Video Music Awards for "Piece of Me" including Video of the Year.
Her latest album "Circus" has given her two chart topping hits for "Womanizer" and "Circus." The video for "Womanizer" was shot with dance moves from choreographer Sandip Soparrkar. For her latest tour Britney is continuing to use Desi choreographers. Rujata Vaidya has choreographed one of the dance routines for the "Circus" tour and Britney Spears has been outfitted in full Indian dress.
Today Britney Spears' keeps busy with endorsements, her own line of fragrances, writing, touring, and looking after her family. see less biography
