Cassandra Ventura was born on August 26, 1986 in New London, Connecticut to a Filipino father and a mother of African American, West Indian and Mexican descent. Today she is known by her stage name Cassie and is an American singer, model, and actress. Cassie is best known for her single "Me & U", which hit the radio waves in 2006, becoming her first smash hit.
Cassie has worked with the likes of Sean "Diddy" Combs who helped her develop her music career. Cassie's second studio album is currently in the works and is tentatively titled, Electro Love. It is scheduled to be released sometime later this year. The album has quite a few notable singles, including "Official Girl", featuring American rapper Lil Wayne. The album's official first single, "Must Be Love", featuring Diddy, was sent to radio in April of 2009 and received rave reviews.
As an artist, Cassie often expressed that she is musically influenced and inspired by a number of successful performers. She dropped big music industry names including Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Selena, Aaliyah, Sade, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Stevie Wonder, Nine Inch Nails and La Lupe.
