RAAT GAYI BAAT GAYI, a co-production between Rajat Kapoor and PNC, is finally ready for release. For a man who has brought a different dimension to new age cinema with films like BHEJA FRY, MITHYA and MIXED DOUBLES, one wonders if film makers like him are still required to go the whole hog to find buyers? Is the struggle still on?
'Well, I would say that it is not that simple to get your film up there on screen', admits Rajat, 'There is still a lot of heartburn and heartbreak. Still, let's look at the positive side of things. It's a fact that overall the scenario has improved 100 times in last 10 years. Today in India, there are a lot more opportunities than there were ever before.'

For someone who started on a humble note with a small time film PRIVATE DETECTIVE, Rajat has indeed come a long way.
Remembers Rajat, 'I made PRIVATE DETECTIVE but it was never released. Today, there is guarantee that at least your film will see the light of the day. Earlier agar aap mar-mar kar film bana bhi lete they toh bhi yeh nahi maloom tha ki release hogi ya nahi. Aaj, ek glimmer of hope toh hai ki shaayad aapki film dekhne log aa jaaye. (Earlier, even if you somehow make a film, it was not sure if it would release at all. Today, there's a glimmer of hope that there would be someone to watch your film) It may see one show at 11'o clock in the morning but the brighter aspect of the affairs is that there is at least a foot in the door.'
