Arshad Warsi: Red light sequence was necessary

In one of the highlight scenes of ISHQIYA, Arshad Warsi reaches out to a teenage boy and asks him for directions to a red light area. Rarely before in a Hindi film has a leading man been shown to be so frivolous but Arshad has no qualms about breaking away from the trend.
Recounting the hilarious sequence, which established his character of Babban, Arshad smiles, "This sequence was pretty much required as it was reflective of this character, who doesn't believe in love and only seeks lust."

One can't help but ask him that what really convinced him to do this scene and a lot of others which showed the raunchy side of him. "In
ISHQIYA, both Naseer and I have our point of views when it comes to the lady in our lives - Vidya Balan", Arshad begins to elaborate, "The entire romantic encounter is quite balanced actually because there is a man who has seen life (Naseer) and hence is in love with her. On the other hand I being the younger lot is in lust with her."
Highlighting the quality feel that ISHQIYA carries right though its narrative, Arshad says that the film has a lot more than just Naseeruddin Shah, Vidya Balan and himself. "There are so many other talented actors as well who were handpicked by Vishal (Bhardwaj) and Abhishek (Chaubhey). Like for examples look at films like SHOLAY or MUNNABHAI. It was never just about its principal protagonists. There were dozen odd other characters that we remember till date. They all got very good importance and footage as well. It is only this kind of combination that leads to a masterpiece", concludes Arshad.
