Amruta Patki's discomfort with film contracts

Miss India-Earth 2006 Amruta Patki would be making her big screen debut with HIDE & SEEK. However, not many are aware that she had to reject quite a few offers during last four years because they demanded exclusivity from her. Not willing to be coerced into a situation like many of her counterparts where a three film contract bounded her from acting with any other banner, Amruta chose to bide her time and wait for an opportunity where there were no restrictions.
"I am a free bird and even after Miss India, I never allowed people to put any restrictions on me. Same holds good in my Hindi film career as well", says Amruta in response to the query around what really made her wait for so long to get into films. Since it was way in 2006 when she got the Miss India-Earth title, one can be rest assured that there would have been offers for films during this time period.

"Yes, there were roles before HIDE & SEEK but then I was looking for an ideal mixture of a good production house, a good director and a good story. Of course another major criterion was this entire non-contract thing. I am not too fond of these three films contract or the entire exclusivity factor where you can't do any other film till the first one release", Amruta says point blank without batting an eye lid.
In HIDE & SEEK, Amruta plays the character of a socialite named Gunita Suri. This film co-produced by Apoorva Lakhia and Laxmi Singh is about six youngsters who as kids played a game on a chilly Christmas Night. Later when they grew, their past returned to haunt them all over again and now it became a matter of survival. There is a mysterious entity which was trying to bring them all together in order to play the same game all over again!
Directed by debutant Shawn Arranha, HIDE & SEEK also stars Purab Kohli, Arjan Bajwa, Mrinalini Sharma, Samir Kochhar and Ayaz Khan and releases all over this Friday, i.e. 12th March 2010
