Anuj Saxena gets serious about Regional Cinema

Apart from Hindi films, Anuj Saxena's Maverick Productions has made a very successful entry into regional cinema. Being a true maverick, Anuj has entered the regional films with Kannad, Malyalam and Guajarati films.
Year 2009 saw two regional releases from Maverick's stable. HOUSEFUL in Kannada, directed by Hemanth Hegde and starring Diganth, Girija Oak, Vishakha Singh and Hemanth himself was released on 24th July 2009; HOUSEFUL had a successful run of 50 days at the box office. This was followed by GULUMAL in Malayalam directed by V. K. Prakash staring Mithra Kurian, Kunchacko Boban and Jayasuriya which released on the 4th of December 2009.
GULUMAL proved to be a dark horse and is set to complete 100 days at the box office in April 2010.In fact it is one of the few films that was brought back to the theaters by public demand, a feat very few films can boast of.
2010 March will see Maverick enter another regional space by releasing its first Gujarati film NATHEEYO, starring Chandan Rathod (The masses darling in north Gujarat whose current movie DHAMACHAKARI is doing extremely well), Sapna, Hasmukhlal, Janak and Hetal Yadav and directed by Chander Bhel a well known TV and Gujrati film director.
Encouraged by the response generated by regional cinema Maverick has decided to continue to make regional films this year as well. With great fanfare Maverick launched its second film in Malayalam BEST OF LUCK in Cochin on 27th of February 2010. BEST OF LUCK is being directed by M. A. Nishad and stars Prabhu, Kailash, Asif Ali, Urvashi, Reena and Archana. The music of the film is by the popular band Euphoria (Palash Sen), again a first in Malyalam industry. First time ever the Malayalam industry saw a true Bollywood kind of launch, with an AV and the entire cast and crew speaking on the stage this function was attended by eminent film personalities and press from the industry. The film is slated for a July/ August release.
Maverick is in the process of finalizing its slate of both regional and Hindi films in the coming month.
