IPL claims its first casualties

IPL has started claiming its casualties. 10 days after the release of RIGHT YAAA WRONG and HIDE & SEEK, it is clear that the might of IPL cannot be undermined.
In spite of very good merits, RIGHT YAAA WRONG has seen everything going wrong for itself. This Sunny Deol-Irrfan Khan starrer has seen complete rejection at the box office and has all but folded up at just around 3 crores collections. These are extremely poor numbers for a film which deserved far-far better due to its tout dramatic narrative. However, horrendous marketing coupled with zero buzz means that RIGHT YAAA WRONG would have to seek solace from home video and satellite channels.

For this film in particular, Sunny Deol can be expected to be mighty disappointed because after the likes of FOX and KAAFILA, he at least had a polished product up his sleeves here. Still, Subhash Ghai and Co. showed no interest in pitching the film correctly and the result was total ignorance about this Neeraj Pathak directed film that led to its downfall.
It wasn't any better for HIDE & SEEK which also added to the huge pile of disasters that 2010 has seen so far. With unmentionable collections that are waiting to be disclosed by the makers, HIDE & SEEK may have seen a marginal better fate if not for its arrival amongst the Bollywood crowd and IPL. Having said that, its promotion too was unimpressive while the songs, though well tuned, were also never publicized.
As for NA GHAR KE NA GHAT KE, it is no less a disaster as the only audience it has seen for itself has been in select centers in the cow belt. This was a film which was (surprisingly) most promoted amongst the three releases. However, the fate hasn't been any different and one wonders whether theatrical revenue, which is quite miniscule, would even help the film recover its cost of print, publicity and marketing.
